I ran into a coworker on the way out of my grammar class today. He asked what I was coming from, and I told him. "I'm doing pretty bad in there," I said. He looked carefully at me. "Badly? Do you mean badly? Or not well?" Yeah. That. Part of the problem has been tardiness (I slept through a quiz) or absentmindedness (I skipped a whole section on another quiz and forgot to come back).
Tany, my girlfriend, got back online last night after days of being gone. Her computer was broken until then, and her sister stopped sharing hers, but the family PC was finally accessible again last night. Our schedules make it hard to find good times to talk; I'm fantasizing about the day she can buy that cell phone she's planning on getting. (She is free three days in a row this week, so that should be wondersome.)
When I picked up my paycheck at work, I was reminded of the burlesque show being put on soon (Thursday!) by a local troupe; I can't wait to go. I've never been to one, but I have high hopes of fun and good times. Work reminded me because 1) there are posters for it at the door and 2) at least one of the girls there is in the troupe. I think some other folks from work will be going, and possibly my roomate, so I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be sure to make an entry all about it!
After I deposited my checks, I went shopping! There's a nice place downtown above a coffee shop, and they had a good selection of attractive mens clothing. I have to go back and buy one of those sexy wallets. They had amazing designs printed on them, and they're really interesting to see. Some were even one of a kind designs that were hand-painted by the maker! I bought a shirt or two by Penguin, and I'm pleased with my purchases. (Btw, Penguin is made by Munsingwear, and WOW: look at the official Munsingwear site. I can't help but thinking all these hilarious asshole things should be coming out of their mouths. "Hey dad, did you fire that guy I didn't like?" "Sure did son, and I fucked his wife in front of him while I fired him!") I also got a tee with the store name. Now I have to wait longer to get that 32 inch monitor I'm eyeing, but what the hell. That's the joy of saving up for something: finally getting it, not getting it right away. (Though perhaps I should put aside a stack of money that is exclusively for the monitor so I don't keep leeching the bank account.)
The premade layouts are lovely; I like the one I have picked out. Still, I'm wondering if there is a way to customize my journal's appearance. (You know, once I become a graphic artist and web designer...) I'll have to look that up.
Tonight I work at the call center for the university I attend. Basically, I make calls to people and try to give surveys about whatever topics for which the school has been hired. I like all the people I work with, but the heat in there like to puts me to sleep every time I go in! It's not winter yet, people, jeez. Speaking of work, I've got to wrap this up and grab some food before I head off. Ja ne! (That's Japanese for "tickle my weiner!")
Yanno, I think I'm going to post a song I like in each of my entries.
It's been a while since I signed up for an online journal. Who knows how long this one will last? I'm sure that's something people wonder whenever they start something like this. I've had a couple, and have a couple of current ones besides this one, but now I'm interested in having an online journal that I haven't told anyone about. There's nothing to hide here. I just feel like a new outlet for expression is called for so I may be however I please, without seeming out of character to people used to me acting a certain way. Moving on...
It is just beginning to cool down from the summer. I am looking forward bundling up and keeping the apartment warm, but I really hate showering in the cold, which the bathroom usually is in the early morning. I am pretty sure the street door will leak like a punctured hot air balloon, and it might be a good idea to have someone come in and take a look at it; tell us how to avoid spending so much on the bill. If we do it soon, we can help ourselves before the cold really sets in.
There are some lovely jackets I have been eyeing online as an excuse for spending money on clothes (I have to stay warm!). I can't find one exactly like I wanted, but I might try my hand at making some alterations myself. A scarf or two might also be in order...even earmuffs, perhaps. This winter, I want to be well layered and comfortable; I can still remember feeling like I was freezing all last winter. A t-shirt and a hoodie do not well fend off December.
A couple nights ago, my roomates and I met the girls across the hall in the apartment building. It was a fun time, which was strange for happening so late. We heard a loud crash and a shout at 3 or 4 a.m. and walked into the hallway to see if anyone had been hurt, or if there was a fight going on. They were hanging their heads out of their doorway when we opened ours, and when I asked them if they were all right, one of them told me it had been someone down the hall. We introduced ourselves and complained of never having met before that, and we were shown their apartment before returning the favor. Theirs is much more cozy, and has a very attractive pattern of wear on the walls (our apartment building used to be a hardware store, so it's been around for a while). They were similarly complimentary of our apartment, but I wonder if it was more because of our easy access to the street than the aesthetics of the place. Before they left, one of them managed to obtain our signatures and a thing we each liked. I chose pasta; my roomates chose dumbo octopus (think that's right) and True Stories, that David Byrne film. We all agreed to have a movie night sometime soon and introduce each other to new films. (Side note - the next morning, they had taped a piece of paper with an illustration combining all of our "likes" to our door: an octopus with dumbo ears eating pasta and watching True Stories. True story.)
I am anticipating some packages that should be arriving soon; they're going to take so long to get here, it'll almost be a reward for my patience by the time they finally do. I bought a couple of CDs, and I'm really looking forward to them. Free Super Shipping, however, has its consequences; I'll recieve my order sometime on or before October 3rd. I can feel the ground trembling from the sheer speed at which my order is going out.
I suppose that's enough for now.
P.S. I very much hope they make a client for vox soon. I prefer composing in a separate application for some reason. Maybe I think it lends credibility to my blogging.
